Adding photos and videos to an item
Upload photos to a listing, set the hero image, reorder your gallery, add captions and link YouTube videos so buyers see your product at its best.
Good photos do most of the selling. Every item in your shop has a media manager built into the item editor, where you upload images, choose which one buyers see first, and add YouTube videos.
Where to find it
- Go to Manage for your business, then open Items.
- Click an item to open it, then choose Edit.
- The media manager sits at the top of the editor, split into two sections: Images and Videos.
Uploading photos
- In the Images section, click the file picker at the bottom (it says Pick one or many — upload starts straight away).
- Select one photo or several at once — hold Cmd (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows) to multi-select.
- The upload begins the moment you choose your files; there's no separate Upload button to press.
Each photo you pick becomes its own image in the gallery, added after any photos already there, so your current hero is never bumped by surprise. We automatically re-encode and resize your photos for the web, so you don't need to compress them yourself.
Tip: Upload JPEG or PNG files. If a photo won't upload, you'll see a message asking you to try a JPEG or PNG — this usually means the file was an unsupported format (for example, an iPhone HEIC).
The hero image
The first image (the one in position 1) is your hero. It's badged Hero in the manager and is the thumbnail shown everywhere a single image appears — on shop cards and your public profile.
- To promote a different photo, drag it to position 1. The Hero badge moves with it.
Reordering your gallery
Hover over any image and use the drag handle (the dotted icon, top-right of the thumbnail) to drag it into a new position. The new order saves automatically, and that order is exactly how buyers see your gallery.
Adding captions
Under each photo there's a small Caption (optional) box. Type a short caption (up to 200 characters) and click away — it saves on its own. Captions appear beneath each photo on your public listing.
Recommended sizes
- Use large, sharp photos — we store your original up to 2560px on its longest edge and generate 320px, 768px and 1280px versions automatically.
- Square or landscape images crop most cleanly into the square shop cards.
- Aim for good, even lighting and a plain background where you can.
Adding a video
Videos are optional and always sit after your images in the gallery.
- In the Videos (YouTube) section, paste a YouTube link into the box — for example
https://youtu.be/abc123orhttps://youtube.com/watch?v=abc123. - Click Add video.
We only accept YouTube links (watch, youtu.be, embed and shorts URLs all work). If the link isn't recognised you'll be asked to paste a proper YouTube URL. Videos can be dragged to reorder, just like images, and removed with the bin icon.
Note: Deleting a photo or video is instant and can't be undone, so double-check before you confirm.
