After you apply — review & approval

What happens once you hit Submit — the review queue, how long it takes, what our team checks, and what approval unlocks for your listing.

Submitting

The last wizard step, Review & submit, shows a tidy summary of everything you've entered — business name and web address, listing mode, registry, categories, location and document count. Each row has an Edit link if you spot something to fix.

To submit you need the essentials in place: a name, a description, a phone number and at least one category. If anything required is missing you'll get a message saying exactly what to add. When everything's ready, click Submit application.

The submitted state

You'll land on a confirmation page: "Application submitted — your application is in our review queue." Your listing's status moves to Under review. We'll email you when there's a decision, usually within a few business days.

Tip: don't just wait. From the confirmation page you can Add items, set up shop sections and upload photos, and Preview store to see it as a customer would. Everything you build now goes live the moment we approve — so a finished-looking shop appears the instant you're listed.

What our team checks

A real person reviews each application. They confirm the basics make sense, check your location, and — if you uploaded verification documents — personally check your ID and proof of address. For Companies House (GB) businesses we can verify the company number automatically; Isle of Man and other entity types are checked manually.

What approval unlocks

Once approved, your status becomes Approved and:

  • Your public profile goes live at localfor.me/b/your-handle for everyone — until then only you (and our team) can see it via an owner preview.
  • You start appearing in nearby, distance-ordered search and category browsing.
  • Customers can recommend and favourite you.
  • If you uploaded documents and they passed review, your Verified badge appears across search, your profile and favourites.
  • If you chose the storefront listing mode, you'll be guided through Stripe's quick setup so customers can buy directly and payouts land in your bank.

If something needs changing

If we can't approve as-is we'll be in touch by email. You can find your listing and its current status any time under My businesses. After approval, most edits save instantly — though material changes such as your name, registry or postcode briefly send the listing back for a quick re-review, and we'll email you when it's live again.
